Kru Juice, what is happening to Muay Thai Culture and Muayman Academy?

The inception of Muay Thai Culture was driven by the desire to narrate the rich history of Muay Thai, as experienced by its practitioners and passed down through generations of Nak Muay. This narrative is expanding, and the founder, Aaron “Kru Juice” Veverka, has recognized the necessity for a more substantial platform to accommodate these stories. To adequately support the artists who dedicate their lives to Muay Thai, a virtual hall of celebration is required. Consequently, the new home of Muay Thai Culture is the former Muayman Academy, which previously functioned more as a digital repository for the art than a traditional academy. Kru Juice identified this opportunity and embraced it wholeheartedly. Muay Thai Culture is evolving into a comprehensive media hub for Muay Thai, aggregating videos from across the internet that highlight the lives, fights, and instructional moments of its fighters, coaches, and promoters.

Muayman Academy is being developed as a cooperative entity aimed at instructing trainers in the Muay Thaibata conditioning system—the world’s first conditioning system specifically designed for Muay Thai. This cooperative will enable instructors to collectively operate a global gym, thereby providing them with a sustainable livelihood through teaching, rather than relying on multiple jobs to sustain their gyms.

Muayman Thaiboxing will serve as the platform for this initiative, offering a website and applications for both iOS and Android. This will allow members to participate and learn from the system. Additionally, the system will be available for licensing to those who do not wish to join the cooperative, although they will not receive the extensive benefits associated with membership in the Muayman Academy. Future updates will be communicated promptly through this newsletter.

Muay Thai Expo 2024!

The Thai Boxing Association-Sanctioning Authority (TBA-SA) hosted one of the most anticipated events in the Muay Thai calendar - the 2024 TBA Classic - Muay Thai World Expo. The event took place from June 19-23, 2024, in Des Moines, Iowa, and lived up to its promise of being the largest Muay Thai tournament in North America[1][2].

The 2024 TBA Classic solidified its position as a cornerstone event for Muay Thai enthusiasts, practitioners, and professionals alike. Its significance in the Muay Thai community was evident from the meticulous planning and organization that went into the event. The TBA-SA had already outlined future dates for the Classic, demonstrating their long-term commitment to the sport's growth and development[2].

The scale of the 2024 TBA Classic was impressive, building upon the success of previous years. While final numbers were not immediately available, the event was expected to surpass the 2022 edition, which saw 1,065 total registrations, with 988 fully registered participants and 766 attendees[2]. These numbers underscored the event's popularity and its role as a gathering point for the Muay Thai community across North America and beyond.

The tournament structure of the 2024 TBA Classic was comprehensive, catering to various age groups and skill levels. It featured categories for juniors, adults, and seniors, as well as a special "No Holds Barred" (NHC) division. The event crowned numerous tournament champions across these categories, highlighting the competitive nature of the event and the high level of skill on display[2].

Beyond individual achievements, the 2024 TBA Classic also recognized team efforts. Awards were given for overall team points, with separate recognition for junior teams. This aspect of the tournament fostered a sense of community and encouraged gyms and training centers to develop their talent pools holistically.
